Our main topics

How is the ubiquitin signal decoded into a large number of cellular responses?

Through a multidisciplinary approach including bioinformatics, genetics, biochemical, biophysical and x-ray crystallography tools, we elucidate these signaling mechanisms. We developed novel bacterial systems to genetically select and purify ubiquitylated proteins for downstream studies. We also developed a novel structural based bioinformatics procedure to identify ubiquitin receptors. Using these tools we identified and characterized new components of the ubiquitin pathways involved in neurodegenerative, cancer, metabolic and infective diseases
